Marvel’s Black Panther film was released on February 2016 this year and is still going strong. It’s expected to gross more than $700 million this weekend. According to Deadline, it’s the third movie to earn that milestone. It’s been on screen for 25 weekends although you may not find it at your nearest theater. Total global gross is already over a billion dollars which goes to show how amazing this movie has been.
Black Panther has a majority of black actors including the protagonist, love interest, and antagonist. That already is a massive achievement in super hero comic book movies. The movie is also tied to the Marvel cinematic universe centered around the Avengers series. This year, we’ve already seen Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War and Antman and the Wasp, that’s done amazing business in theaters.
Avengers: Infinity War saw Black Panther and Thor return and is also an incredible movie. You’ll still find it playing in some theaters near you and if you’ve not seen it yet, you better watch it before it exits theaters. There’s definitely chances to see Black Panther return to screens again considering Marvel has done a fantastic job tying all the movies together.
Chadwick Boseman stars as Black Panther with Creed star Michael B. Jordan in the supervillian role. Boseman does the character justice and you can totally believe that he is the Black Panther. The movie has drama, action and special effects that the Marvel movies have been so good at delivering. Boseman debuted as Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War in 2016 and now has his own movie. It’s hard to say whether it’s better than the other Marvel fare this year but it has enough to hold its own. The fact it’s still roaring strong shows there’s more life in this feline!
